SmartCat Marketing Inclusion Statements
Land Acknowledgment & Inclusion Statement
At SmartCat Marketing, everyone’s welcome. No exceptions, no fine print.
My home office is located in Eastern Passage, Nova Scotia, on the ancestral and unceded territory of the Mi’kmaq people, known as Mi’kma’ki. I’m committed to ongoing learning and reflection on what it means to run a business on this land in a way that honours its original stewards.
As an Acadian from a long line of ancestors dating back before the deportation, we were known to be resilient and resourceful. People who, despite hardship, built strong relationships with the Mi’kmaq through mutual respect, shared knowledge, and a spirit of cooperation rooted in surviving and thriving together. That legacy matters to me. So does carrying it forward with intention.
As a proud parent of someone in the LGBTQIA+ community, inclusion isn’t a side note; it’s stitched into my life. It’s how I raise my family, how I serve my clients, and how I choose to show up as a business owner. I believe in safe, respectful spaces where no one has to wonder if they belong.
I work with founders of all backgrounds, women founders, LGBTQIA+ folks, Black entrepreneurs, Indigenous business owners, newcomers, and anyone whose brilliance has been overlooked or underestimated. If that’s you, I want you to know you’re not just welcome here, you’re deeply valued.
Marketing should never feel like gatekeeping. My goal is to help you shape your message so it lands with the right people : clearly, confidently, and without compromising who you are.
Why This Matters
I believe the words we choose, and the spaces we create, can either welcome someone in or push them out. That’s true in life, and it’s just as true in business.
Inclusion matters to me because I’ve seen what happens when people feel unseen or underestimated. As an Acadian and a proud parent in the LGBTQIA+ community, I carry stories of resilience, rejection, and rebuilding. Those experiences shape how I show up: with empathy, clarity, and a deep respect for the power of identity and voice.
This isn’t about looking inclusive on paper; it’s about building relationships where people feel safe to be themselves. That’s the kind of business I run, and the kind of world I want to help create.
